Cowra Junior Rugby League match reports June 15

UNDER6 BEARS VERSE WALLABIES

Bears An entertaining fast game today Kaleb was running freely and off loading at Willei which lead to Phil scoring a try under the post. A try also to Jazaiha stepping in and out of defenders. Strong running and tackling by Willei Baxter and Jaxon go the mighty bears the McDonalds’man of the match was Phill Jnr

Wallabies Great running by Kemp with great team play and assistance from Oscar saw him score a try in the first five mins. Joe followed through with ducking and weaving to score our second try. Strong tackling by Aidan and James saw the wallabies get the ball and Kemp scored his second try. A strong run by Drew up the side line with a quick off load saw Kemp over again. James provided Joe with some strong assistance to score another try Drew had another great run but fell just short of a try but quick work by Aidan saw him score a fantastic try with great support from Oscar. The McDonalds’ man of the match went to James Webster.

KANGAROOS VERSE COLTS

Kangaroos Good effort from all players. Special mention to Rylee Frazer for good tackling and barnstorming runs. McDonalds’ player of the match went to Cooper Doyle

Colts A big thank you to Kangaroos for lending us two players at halftime it made the game more competitive for the boys Malachi ran the length of the field to score a try Noah and Jet scored a try each as well Aiden and Joe scored a try while filling in for the colts Mack made some great tackles with Noah Knight getting McDonalds’ man of the match.

UNDER 8 BEARS VS WALLABIES

Bears Both teams played great as a team much support was given in defence and attacking and the kicking skills of goals has improved. The McDonalds awards went to Chamberlain Gillam.

Wallabies had a great win with some great tries to Carter and Mick with three each and Hugh Breen consistent in defence receiving The McDonalds award.

KANGAROOS VS COLTS

Kangaroos Good job by all the players Tully, Matt and Axel run the ball hard all game Josh, Charlie, Jeremy and beau ere running and off loading all game Kayne, Hayden and Alex were tackling machines And Alex Ward was The McDonald player of the week.

Colts A big thank you to Bailey Redfern for filling in for the colts this week he scored two fantastic tries. Jake played great with some big hit ups and goal. Lachlan played well scoring two tries and kicking two goals. Jace was quick on his feet scoring a great try. Davie played an awesome game with two tries and two goals. Matt was great in defence holding the kangaroos out all the boys played fantastic footy. The McDonalds award went to Lachlan Pullen.

UNDER10 BEARS VS WALLABIES

Bears The bears go back to back wins well done boys. It’s the first this year we had a full team on the paddock which helped the team in the last five minutes when the wallabies hit their straps. Great game by both teams the Eagle Boy’s award went to Bill Statham.

Wallabies Great game well done boys you are improving each week and learning to work as a team. There were some awesome tackles and great tries. The Eagle boy’s award went to Jay Link.

KANGAROOS VS COLTS

Colts the colts tried hard this week but the organisation let them down. Some great tackling from Djahn, Aiden and Luke thwarted attacking raids. Sam hit the ball up with venom and earned this week’s Eagle Boy’s award.

UNDER12 BEARS VS WALLABIES

Bears Awesome game today by the boys putting in a big effort just to miss out on the win. David and Sam ran well with Tom tackling amazingly. We all had some great defence on the line to hold them out for multiple sets. The Eagle boy’s award went to David lynch.

Wallabies a very good tight game where we all had to dig deep. All the little fella’s were very strong especially our mighty mouse Will Cain who got our eagle boy’s award great game had with the crowd on the edge.

KANGAROOS VS COLTS

Kangaroos A good effort by the roos today only going down by 14 considering they lost by 50 last time, we’ll getting better just need to have good ball control. The Eagle Boy’s award went to Jake Slsttery.

Colts A closer match than the score suggests, with the Kangaroos putting in an improved performance against the 'at times, lucky' Colts outfit. The coach attempts to instill in his players that the great game of Rugby League is not all about just running hard and tackling harder. Using your brain plays just as big a part in winning a football game. The Colts failed to turn their brains on last Saturday, with careless mistakes, riddled with poor options and failure to follow the game plan, meaning that we were not at our best. Start using that thing on your shoulders more Colts and watch the improvement in your performances! Our captain Ben had a poor game by his standards, however the encouragement that he gives to his team-mates is great to hear. Ensuring that everyone gets a run and applauding solid performances by his mates is a display of good leadership. Keep it up, Benny Mannah! Will 'Thurston' Austin and Noah 'Marshall' Ryan were dominant players, crossing for 2 tries each. Putting the pedal down and straight running made these two hard to stop. Talking of speed, Jayden 'Galloway' Bohanna has that in abundance. He sped past opponents to score his first try for the year, likely not to be his last if he finds clear space. Sam Frazer also got his first points for the year with a successful conversion, along with Noah. Blake made fantastic ground with the ball this week, with big things expected from him in the near future. His wing partner, Will K. looked like he might cross for his first 4 pointer, but a poor choice of running back in field when the line was open out wide, was a lesson learnt and one that he won't make again. Ky made four tackles in a row at one point in the match and was seen sucking in some big breaths. Inspirational stuff from one of our "book-ends." Andrew has good skills when he has the ball in his hands. His tackling was not up to its usual ferocity and will be worked on at training this week. Matt again ran the ball up with determination this week. Alex 'Marshall' Graham felt that the oranges at half-time were sour! He took his anger out on the Kangaroos in the second half, with big yardage made through the guts of the opposition. Improved tackling on top of this saw him awarded the Eagle Boys award this week.

UNDER14 BEARS KANGAROOS WALLABIES

Bears the boys dug deep and hung in there and there is a lot of heart in the bears. the Eagle boy’s award went to Cameron Roberts.

Kangaroos tries to Jesse , Jai and great defence by all the boys. Jesse intercepted and passed Jayden to half the length of the field only to be brought down by the bears defence. Great tackling from Janama, Jacob were great under the high ball. Luke was great all game. the Eagle boy’s award winner this week was Sam Hampton. Wallabies the boys started off slow but defended well and then came back with a couple of late tries. The defence from Jack was strong the kicking game of Mark and the strong runs from Tom, Kyle was good in both games.
