Man, boy charged over $1m sawmill fire
POLICE have charged a man and a boy over a fire that caused more than $1 million damage to a sawmill.
The blaze was reported shortly after 11pm last October 31 at the mill on Kenebri Rd, Baradine, northwest of Coonabarabran.
Damage forced closure of the mill for a number of months, police say
Earlier this month police arrested a 21-year-old man at a correctional centre in West Kempsey, charging him with two counts of destroy property in company use fire (more than $5000), three counts of destroy or damage property and larceny.
The man was refused bail to appear in Kempsey Local Court on July 30.
Last Friday, a 17-year-old boy attended Coonabarabran Police Station where he was arrested and charged with destroy property in company use fire (more than $5000).
He was given conditional bail to appear in Coonabarabran Children’s Court in August. |
