Seal tangled in G-string at Lovers’ Leap
NEW Zealand conservation rangers have saved a seal tangled in a G-string near the Lovers’ Leap cliffs in Otago, on thee South Island.
Authorities were called by a worried member of the public who saw the struggling seal with something caught around its neck.
Walking for an hour and scrambling up a 230-m cliff, marine ranger Jim Fyfe finally caught up with the seal and was surprised to find it tangled in the underwear.
“We got it early enough,” he says.
“Quite possibly, given that it was fabric, it would have rotted off, but you can never tell.”
The local man who initially spotted the seal, David Johnston, advises people discarding an item that “if it forms a loop, cut it”. |
