Recycling Service

Both of Cowra Shire Council’s garbage service vehicles were out of action due to mechanical repairs on Tuesday, 31 July.

Cowra Council apologises for the inconvenience that this situation has incurred for residents and ratepayers.

For more information, contact Cowra Council’s Waste Operations Supervisor Craig Lynch on (02) 6340 2140, mob. 0427 409 042.

“No Stopping” in Railway Lane

Motorists using Railway Lane and Brisbane Street are reminded of important changes to local road conditions.

Due to demolition and construction works being carried out at the old Ellis building opposite the Motor Registry in Railway Lane, parking arrangements have been temporarily changed from hourly (1P) parking to "No Stopping".

Motorists are not permitted to stop or park for any amount of time in the sign-posted ‘No Stopping’ areas. The “No Stopping” arrangements apply at all times.

While some motorists are under the misapprehension that the conditions only apply during business and construction hours; the ‘No Stopping’ signs are 24-hours, seven days a week.

Council has received a number of complaints about motorists parking and dropping-off passengers in the “No Stopping” area and the parking rules will be closely monitored by Council and enforced. Pedestrians however will still have access at this juncture and the Bus Zone in Railway Lane will remain in operation.

Water Treatment Upgrade

Following a recent Cowra Shire Council decision; Council has resolved to spend up to $2.5 million on an upgrade of Cowra’s Water Treatment Plant. This project is to be loan-funded. Council welcomes submissions on this project on or before Friday, August 3 2012.
