Pushbike rider dies after being hit by car
A PUSHBIKE rider has died after he was struck by a car northwest of Newcastle.
Police were called the New England Highway near the Tarro Railway overpass near Hexham shortly after 5pm yesterday (Thursday) and found the rider deceased.
The man driving the sedan was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
Meanwhile, an 88-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a truck in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The woman was crossing Gardeners Rd at Kingsford about 10.20am Wednesday when she was hit by a tipper truck, police say.
She was taken to hospital where she later died.
Reports on both fatalities are being prepared for the Coroner. |
