POW construction mystery

Above: The mysterious concrete structure at the Cowra POW Camp site.
A CONCRETE structure which is in the Italian sector of the former Prisoner of War Camp in Cowra has created something of a mystery.
The structure as pictured is not a new discovery, but its purpose is unclear.
Shire council officers asked Maria Bell of the Cowra Italy Friendship Association to examine the structure and inquire among her Italian contacts to ascertain just what it might be.
Unfortunately those inquiries have shed no light on the object’s identity.
Ms Bell has asked CCN to help by publishing the photo and asking our readers to try and provide a solution to the mystery.
If you can identify the object and its use please email editor@cowracommunitynews.com and we’ll pass on answers.
In the meantime, Ms Bell warns people to be extremely careful if they take a look at the object because it was guarded by a large brown snake (right) when she last paid a visit. |
