“No Stopping” in Railway Lane
Motorists using Railway Lane and Brisbane Street are reminded of important changes to local road conditions.
Due to demolition and construction works being carried out at the old Ellis building opposite the Motor Registry in Railway Lane, parking arrangements have been temporarily changed from hourly (1P) parking to "No Stopping".
Motorists are not permitted to stop or park for any amount of time in the sign-posted ‘No Stopping’ areas. The “No Stopping” arrangements apply at all times.
While some motorists are under the misapprehension that the conditions only apply during business and construction hours; the ‘No Stopping’ signs are 24-hours, seven days a week.
Council has received a number of complaints about motorists parking and dropping-off passengers in the “No Stopping” area and the parking rules will be closely monitored by Council and enforced. Pedestrians however will still have access at this juncture and the Bus Zone in Railway Lane will remain in operation.
