Bail not sought over alleged scissors attack
A MAN accused of repeatedly stabbing a woman in the face with scissors at Batlow over the weekend has been remanded in custody after he did not seek bail in Wagga Wagga Local Court.
Paul Bradley Quinnell, 35, is accused of attacking a 30-year-old woman in his Hickory Lane house early Saturday morning.
He is also charged with smashing the woman’s head into the footpath when he caught up with her after she fled the house.
Quinnell has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
He appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court yesterday (Monday) and is yet to enter pleas to the charges.
Police allege that after Quinnell and the woman started arguing in the house about 2:30am he dragged her by the hair into the bathroom and bit her face.
He then allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and repeatedly stabbed the woman’s face.
Police say the woman managed to run from the house but Quinnell caught up with her near a hotel and smashed her head into the footpath.
Several people helped the woman before she went to Batlow Hospital and was then taken by ambulance to the Tumut Hospital and later to The Canberra Hospital for surgery.
Police are required to serve a brief of evidence by September 17.
