Man charged with woman’s kidnapping
A MAN has been charged over the abduction of woman who failed to pick up her one-year-old daughter from day care on the South Coast.
Police appealed for public help to find Donna Walters, 41, after the day-care centre could not contact her on Friday afternoon.
Ms Walters was found by police soon after her car was found abandoned at Caseys Beach, south of Batemans Bay, on Saturday.
She was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital for health checks and was later released.
Police investigating her alleged abduction arrested a 43-year-old man at Nelligen, west of Batemans Bay, yesterday (Sunday).
A replica handgun was seized during a search of the man’s 4WD.
He was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station, where he was charged with kidnapping, possessing an unauthorised pistol, intimidation, assault, and several other offences.
Police say he has been refused bail and will appear in Batemans Bay Local Court today (Monday). |
