Mother punched, robbed by youth
A YOUTH has attempted to sexually assault a young mother before punching and pushing her through an open window at a home in Orange, police say.
The attacker also stole a sum of cash from the woman before fleeing on a pushbike.
Police have been told the 20-year-old mother was at home with her eight-month-old baby girl about 3:30pm yesterday (Sunday), when a young man walked into her Summer St residence.
The youth attempted to sexually assault the woman before she was punched then pushed through an open window.
He took cash then ran out the front door and was last seen riding a bike east on Summer St towards Coronation Parade.
The woman contacted police and was taken by paramedics to Orange Base Hospital where she was treated for bruising and shock.
The child was not touched during the attack, police say.
Detectives are now appealing for public assistance to identify a young man they believe can assist with their investigation.
He is described as being 16 to 18 years old, of Caucasian appearance, 160 to 165cm tall, wearing a green/blue (possibly aqua) hooded-jacket and a white “skater”-type helmet.
He may ride a black BMX-style bicycle.
Anyone with information about this person, or who has information about the incident, is urged to contact Orange Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
