Sex assault led to cannabis find – police
A HYDROPONIC cannabis plot has been found on a property where a man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman over the weekend at Moama, south of Deniliquin, police say.
Police allege the man held a 40-year-old woman at his home between Saturday and Monday, during which time he allegedly physically and sexually assaulted her.
Deniliquin Police were alerted to the alleged assaults when the woman was taken to Echuca Hospital to be treated for an unrelated matter.
Inquiries indicate the man and woman are known to each other, police say.
Officers subsequently executed a crime scene warrant on a Moama property where a 53-year-old man was arrested.
He was charged with sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was also charged with cultivate and possess prohibited plant after a hydroponic cannabis plot was allegedly discovered by officers at his house.
He was due to appear in custody at Deniliquin Local Court yesterday (Wednesday). |
