Boy charged with attempted
sexual assault of young mother
A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with the attempted sexual assault of a young mother at Orange last Sunday.
The boy was arrested by detectives about 8:30am today (Friday) in Orange, police say.
He is due to appear in custody before Orange Children’s Court this afternoon.
Police say they believe a 20-year-old woman was at home with her eight-month-old baby girl about 3:30pm on Sunday when a young man walked into her home in Summer St.
The youth allegedly attempted to sexually assault the woman before she was punched then pushed through an open window.
He allegedly took cash then ran out the front door and was last seen riding a pushbike east along Summer St towards Coronation Parade.
The woman contacted police and was taken by paramedics to Orange Base Hospital where she was treated for bruising and shock.
The child wasn’t touched during the attack, police say.
The boy was charged this morning with inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual assault, assault with act of indecency, aggravated enter dwelling with intent, steal property in dwelling house and larceny.
Police refused bail.
