Woman hit by lounge thrown from pub
A WOMAN has suffered serious spinal injuries after being struck a lounge thrown from a hotel balcony at Tamworth last night (Friday).
Police say the woman was on the ground floor of the hotel in Brisbane St about 10pm when the two-seater lounge was allegedly thrown over the first-floor railing, falling about 7m.
The 43-year-old local woman was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital where she is being stabilised before being flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
A 32-year-old man from Ballina and a 27-year-old man from Queensland were arrested at another hotel nearby a short time later, police say.
They were taken to Tamworth Police Station where they have each been charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm in company, and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Both have been bail refused and held overnight to appear in a Tamworth Local Court today (Saturday). |
