Truck crash closes F3 Freeway
NORTHBOUND lanes on the F3 Sydney-Newcastle Freeway are closed at Mt White this morning (Saturday) after an overnight truck crash.
About 3:45am today, a trailer attached to a prime mover has jack-knifed and collided with a passenger van and the guard rail, police say.
Neither driver was injured, however, damage was caused to the road surface and guard rail.
The truck was also carrying groceries and domestic chemicals which have spilt on to the road.
A HAZMAT team from Fire & Rescue New South Wales are on scene cleaning the spill.
Police remain on site with maintenance crews from the Roads & Maritime Services, and traffic commanders for the Transport Management Centre.
The truck remains on the freeway about 2km south of the Mt White exit and all northbound lanes are currently closed, however, partial openings are expected soon.
Traffic is being diverted off the F3 at the Hawkesbury River interchange at Mooney Mooney on to the Old Pacific Highway, to rejoin the F3 at the Mt White interchange.
This diversion is suitable for all vehicles but adds an additional 3km to the journey, police say.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area or delay their trip.
