Man pointed rifle at woman – police
POLICE have charged a man after he allegedly pointed a rifle at a woman in Leeton last week.
Around 5pm on Friday, the 44-year-old man was seen loitering in a utility outside a block of units on Sycamore St, police say.
When a female resident approached the man, he allegedly pointed a rifle at her.
The woman ran away and the man drove off.
Police were notified about the incident and, following inquiries, officers went to a home and arrested the man.
Police also seized four registered firearms.
Detectives say they believe the incident is linked to an assault in the area in February.
That matter is still the subject of an investigation.
The man has been charged with affray, intimidation, assault and not keeping firearms safe.
He was granted conditional bail and is set to appear at Leeton Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday). |
