Woman, two men charged
over man’s serious assault
A WOMAN and two men have been charged with the assault of a man at Coonabarabran that left the victim with serious head injuries, police say.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, a 21-year-old man left a licensed premise on John St, Coonabarabran, with a group of friends.
As the group walked on Dalgarno St they were approached by two men who started to argue with them.
The men allegedly assaulted the 21-year-old, with one man punching him, knocking him to the ground.
A number of other people joined in and the 21-year-old was further assaulted, police say.
Ambulance paramedics took the man to Coonabarabran Hospital before he was transferred to Dubbo Base Hospital suffering serious head injuries.
About 5pm on Saturday, Coonabarabran detectives arrested a 23-year old West Tamworth man at his home and took him to Coonabarabran Police Station.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray, and was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court yesterday (Monday) where he was again refused bail to re-appear in the same court in April.
About 6pm on Saturday, officers arrested a 27-year old Coonabarabran man at his home and charged him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray.
He too was refused police bail and appeared in Tamworth Local Court yesterday, where he was again refused bail to re-appear in the same court in April.
About 1pm yesterday, a 27-year-old Coonabarabran woman attended Coonabarabran Police Station.
She was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray and appeared in Coonabarabran Bail Court yesterday, where she was granted conditional bail to appear at Coonabarabran Local Court later this month.
Police say they expect to make further arrests.
