Alleged pub couch throwers get bail
TWO men who allegedly threw a couch 7m on to a woman from a Tamworth hotel balcony walked down the stairs past the women and made no attempt to help her, a court has heard.
The accused were granted strict conditional bail, each on a $5000 surety, when they appeared in Tamworth Local Court yesterday (Tuesday).
Luke Ledingham, 32, of Lennox Head, and Joshua Timoteo, 27, of Varsity Lakes, Queensland, both must report daily to their closest respective police stations, stay living at their current residences and are not allowed to drink or enter licensed premises.
No pleas were entered
Tamworth woman Brooke Dewberry, 42, took the brunt of the impact of the two-seater couch allegedly thrown from an internal balcony at the Good Companions Hotel, the court heard.
Ms Dewberry is in a stable condition, suffering spinal injuries, in Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
Ledingham and Timoteo had been held in custody since their arrest on Friday night at a different Tamworth hotel.
They are each charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm in company and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
They’re due to re-appear before court next month.
