Copper thieves foiled – police seek info
POLICE are appealing for information from the public following the attempted theft of copper cable from a work site near Mudgee.
Just before 11:40pm on Wednesday, police responded to a report of unauthorised entry by a utility and trailer to a property on Upper Bylong Rd at Bylong, northeast of Mudgee. .
Police have been told three men got out of the vehicle and tried to steal a number of large spools of copper cable.
A security company remotely monitoring the site noticed the activity and disturbed the men via a loudspeaker announcement.
The men, who were all wearing face coverings, then left the site in the vehicle.
Investigators are now appealing for information about the incident.
Police have described the vehicle as being a dark grey Mazda BT-50 or Toyota Hilux, with signage on its doors that appears to have been covered over, and towing a large trailer.
