Canobolas forest fire ‘no
immediate threat’ – RFS
FIRE-FIGHTERS are working to fully contain a fire which is burning in a pine plantation on the south-eastern side of Mount Canobolas.
A spokesman for the Rural Fire Service (RFS) says there is no immediate threat to property.
Fire-fighters are continuing to strengthen containment lines with the support of heavy plant equipment and water-bombing aircraft. The fire has burned approximately 80 hectares of forest.
“While there is no immediate threat to properties, people on rural properties around Pinnacle, Giles and Berrilee Rds should ensure their homes are properly prepared and be aware of spot fires,” the spokesman says.
“Properly prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during the fire.
“If you don’t have a bush fire survival plan, ensure you know what you will do if the fire does threaten your property. If the fire is approaching and you have doubts about your ability to protect your life and home, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
