police probe two knifings
A MAN has been stabbed during a break-in at his home in Orange – one of two knifings reported to police across the region yesterday (Sunday). About 4am, the 39-year-old man heard noises coming from a shed at in the rear yard of his house on Maple Crt, Orange, police say. When he went to investigate, he was confronted by an intruder who shone a torch in his eyes and stabbed him in the arm and back. The intruder ran from the scene, leaving the victim with the knife still imbedded in his back. The man’s wife came to his aid and removed the 7cm long knife before calling Triple Zero. He was taken to Orange Base Hospital for treatment of his injuries and remains in a stable condition. Police from Canobolas Local Area Command established a crime scene and investigators are attempting to identify the man responsible. Meanwhile, police have charged a man and woman over a stabbing attack on a neighbour at Narrandera. Just after 7:30am yesterday, police from Griffith Local Area Command were called to a unit block in Bolton St after reports that an argument over a car park had led to a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man suffering a small knife wound to the ribs. He was treated at the scene. Police arrested a 56-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman over the incident. Both were taken to Narrandera Police Station where the woman collapsed. She was taken to Narrandera Hospital for observation and remains under police guard. The man was charged with malicious wounding while the woman was charged with being armed with intent. The couple was refused bail and is expected to face Griffith Local Court today (Monday). |
