Bail breach in car ride with woman
A COUPLE described as potential “danger both to themselves and other road users” has been arrested for unlicensed driving in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on the North Coast.
The man, 38, is in custody also charged with breach of bail conditions for being in the company of the woman, 35.
Police say officers stopped the vehicle in which the man was the passenger about 4pm yesterday (Saturday) on the Pacific Highway, Nambucca Heads.
The man was found to be on a court-imposed bail condition not to be in the presence or company of the woman.
The vehicle was unregistered and uninsured and the woman was driving without a valid license, police say.
The man was charged with breach of bail and traffic offences and refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Sunday).
The woman is expected to be charged at a later date with driving unlicensed, drive unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and other traffic offences, police say.
She will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court in July.
“This driver’s behaviour is compounded by being unlicensed, in an unregistered vehicle, and being in the company of someone the courts have determined she cannot associate with,” says Traffic and Highway Patrol Operations Commander, Superintendent Stuart Smith.
“They become a danger to both themselves and other road users.”
