400 firearms seized in police raid
POLICE have seized more than 400 firearms in a raid on a licensed firearms dealership near Deniliquin.
Officers on Thursday inspected safes at a business in Main St, Koraleigh, northwest of Deniliquin, as part of an investigation into breaches of the Fireams Act, police say.
After obtaining further information officers returned to the dealership at 5:40pm on Friday and executed a search warrant, confiscating more than 400 firearms including pistols, rifles and shotguns.
Firearm parts and ammunition also were seized.
Police say they’re now investigating alleged offences relating to the safe storage of the firearms and proper record keeping.
The 58-year-old owner was issued with a suspension notice as investigations continue.
