Public Meeting Notice
A public meeting of the NSW Local Government Grants Commission and Cowra Council will be held on Thursday 31 May 2012 at the Cowra Library multi-purpose room, Darling Street, Cowra commencing at 12 noon.
The purpose of the meeting is for the Grants Commission to explain its operations and the basis of its determination of general purpose grants paid under the provisions of the Commonwealth Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1995. The meeting will also provide Council with the opportunity to present to the Commission its particular circumstances. It is anticipated that the meeting will last approximately two hours. Members of the public may attend.
Long Term Financial Plan, Draft Delivery Program 2012-2017 and Draft Operational Plan 2012-2013
In accordance with the recommendations from Cowra Shire Council's meeting on 16 May 2012, the Cowra Shire Council Draft Long Term Financial Plan, Draft Delivery Program 2012-2017 and Draft Operational Plan 2012-2013 are on public exhibition in the foyer of Cowra Shire Council, 116 Kendal Street Cowra, during ordinary office hours, 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, at Cowra Library, and on Council’s website at www.cowraregion.com.au for a period of 28 days from Friday 18 May 2012 to Friday 15 June 2012.
All submissions regarding this plan must be made in writing to the General Manager, Cowra Shire Council, Private Bag 342, COWRA 2794 by 4pm 15 June 2012.
Road Closure Notification
Council advises that the low level bridge will be temporarily closed to traffic on Monday 28 May from 9–11am. The closure will include Low Level Bridge Road from the Redfern Street intersection to the Lachlan Street intersection to accommodate the National “Sorry Day” March.
The March will proceed from the eastern side of the low-level bridge at 10am and continue to the western side of the bridge for the official ceremony. Residents are invited to participate in the March as a way of showing their commitment towards reconciliation.
The next drumMUSTER will be held on Monday 4 June. drumMUSTER is a program for the collection and recycling of cleaned eligible non-returnable crop production and on-farm animal health chemical containers. Bookings are essential and can be made with the Materials Recycling Facility on: 6340 2140.

Companion Animal Matters
Cowra Council’s Adopt a Pound Animal Program aims to reduce the euthanasia of small animals that are brought to the pound with no identification.
Pound Animals that are adopted are all micro-chipped by Council to reduce the cost of registration to the new owner. The sweet-tempered moggy pictured below is available for adoption now.

Cowra Regional Art Gallery — News
Final week of the Calleen Art Award and Central West Regional Artists Award exhibition ends on Saturday 2 June 2012. This year, 60 finalists were selected for exhibition from 228 entries from across Australia. The winner of the 2012 Calleen Art Award (acquisitive) worth $16,000 was Canberra based artist GW Bot with the winner of the 2012 Central West Regional Artists Award (non-acquisitive) and worth $2000 was Genevieve Carroll from Hill End. The awards aim to foster and encourage originality, creativity and excellence in the visual arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Saturday 10–4pm and Sunday 2–4pm. Admission is free and groups are welcome.
