Cowra harness racing to make its TV debut
THIS Sunday’s Cowra Harness Racing Club’s Carnival of Cups meeting will be the first time a trotting meeting has been televised from Cowra.
The meeting will also have full TAB coverage.
The Sam Augustino Memorial is one of many features.
Nathan Hurst is represented by no less than five runners while Steve Turnbull has two engaged with Peter Bullock with the remaining candidate.
No Ah Jack has been consistent for Turnbull and does deserve to break through.
Hurst has strong chances with McArmbro (alley four) and Strong Sapphire (gate eight) who is coming off a strong finishing second in last weekend’s Cootamundra Cup.
To be televised on Sky for the first time, the club has an array of attractions for all racegoers.
Children will be well catered for with jumping castles, a face-painting clown, novelty races, Junior Miss and Master of the Carnival for ages four to eight years, and Tiny Tots Miss and Master of the Carnival up to three years. All children’s activities will be free, with lots of prizes.
For adults, apart from the racing, there will be live music by Shane Kerr and Richie Wilkinson (Brass Monkey Duo), food and bar facilities, lucky gate prizes plus the chance to go in the draw for a $10,000.00 travel voucher.
Townspeople will be well represented in the racing department with Doug Lee, Cowra’s only professional trainer.
A courtesy bus will operate after the races for patrons within a 5km radius of the paceway.
The first of eight races is set down for 12:33pm.
