B-double almost 30km/h over speed limit
A B-DOUBLE truck has been clocked almost 30km/h over the speed limit on the Newell Highway south of Coonabarabran.
Police say the truck was travelling at 126km/h in a 100km/h zone near Warkton about 12:25am yesterday (Monday).
Coonabarabran Highway Patrol officers stopped and booked the 44-year-old male Queensland driver without incident.
The speed-limited vehicle was also defected.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Command will continue to work with Roads and Maritime Services to address speed manipulation and tampering across the heavy vehicle industry in order to prevent fatal and serious injury crashes on the state’s roads, police say.
Heavy vehicles were involved in 75 fatalities last year.
