Police officer cleared over fatal crash
A CORONER has cleared a police officer of any wrongdoing in a fatal car crash in Bathurst on Christmas Day 2010.
Deputy State Coroner Sharon Freund yesterday (Thursday) found the death of Bathurst man Roy John Fulton was “a terrible and tragic accident”.
Mr Fulton died after his Holden Gemini collided with a marked police car at the intersection of Rankin and Durham Sts on December 25, 2010.
Ms Freund found after hearing the evidence of eye witnesses that she was satisfied the lights and sirens of the police car had been engaged prior to, and at the time of, the collision.
Ms Freund found that the officer’s speed “was not excessive” in the circumstances. |
