Man in custody on firearms charges
after alleged threat to woman, 19
A MAN is in police custody charged with firearm offences after allegedly threatening a 19-year-old woman in Orange.
Officers were called about 11:40pm on Saturday to a house on Maroney Place, Orange, after reports that a man in possession of a firearm.
Upon arrival, police stopped a vehicle containing a man and woman after it was seen leaving the house.
The 40-year-old male passenger was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station and charged with possess unauthorised firearm; two counts of not keep firearm safely – not prohibited firearm/pistol; possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority; stalk/intimidate intend fear of physical/mental harm; and, possess unauthorised pistol.
He was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court later today (Monday).
Police allegedly located two firearms inside the vehicle and ammunition and other firearm parts inside the premises.
The man allegedly made threats against the 19-year-old female driver, police say.
